Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Autonomous Systems (School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering).

(Level B) $100,933 - $119,391 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Two-year fixed-term contract available immediately.

This exciting new postdoctoral research fellow role in the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) at the University of Adelaide provides the opportunity to work with the world's leading researchers in autonomous systems and distributed control in a wireless environment. The University of Adelaide is ranked 66 in the world in the 2022 US News Global University Ranking, with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) ranked 16 in the world according to the 2022 US News Global University Subject Ranking.

This role will support the novel development of dynamic information systems for mission-critical applications and includes the development of multi-robot testbeds and simulators for information discovery, assessment and representation, supported by reinforcement learning and domain adaptation.

The role consists of research, development and demonstration of real-time autonomous situational awareness, distributed control and environment adaptation and resilience in a wireless mesh network system, aimed to deliver new capabilities in the interest of dynamic information management for autonomy and situational awareness. Under limited supervision, you will be working with a team of highly skilled professionals and subject experts in the field of trusted autonomous systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in transitioning new concepts to technology demonstrators, with a focus on distributed control and decision modelling, and information management for autonomous situational awareness applications.

To be successful you will need:

Programming experience in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++, ROS or other relevant language for experimental and data analysis, and experience in muti-mobile robots based autonomous systems for situational awareness information processing and management.

A strong work ethic, and the ability to work well independently, and as a member of a broader team, including with industrial partners.

A PhD in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Control, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Proficiency with motion and image sensing, signal/information processing techniques, adaptive control and decision modelling, and familiar with reinforcement learning concept.

Proficiency in system integration of hardware-software-information of distributed control in a wireless network system.

The successful candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to tailor communication skills when interacting with stakeholders.
