美国罗格斯大学2022年招聘博士后职位(内分泌学、神经生物学方向)

Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate

Rutgers University

Position Description:

The Division of Endocrinology, Nutrition and Metabolism at Rutgers University led by Dr. Christoph Buettner is seeking postdoctoral candidates to work on NIH-funded projects by the Buettner laboratory.

The Buettner lab is interested to define the role of the brain in regulating metabolism in peripheral organs and how adipose tissue and the liver in turn affect brain function and inflammation in obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, alcoholism and stress. Using genetic and pharmacological tools, we characterize the role of insulin and leptin signaling, and nutrients such as glucose and fatty acids in regulating central pathways, modulate autonomic outflow to liver and adipose tissue. We study this mostly in vivo, combining integrated physiology protocols such as euglycemic clamp studies and tracer dilution techniques, and combine this with unbiased approaches such as scRNAseq to characterize molecular and cellular mechanisms. A key area of interest is to develop innovative mouse models and techniques to study the autonomic nervous system and its role of controlling metabolism, energy expenditure and innate immunity.

The ideal candidates are self-driven, resourceful, creative and highly interested to work in an area of research at the intersection of neurobiology, endocrinology and systems biology.

Education Requirement:

A recent PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree (within 0-3 years or expect to receive the degree within a year) in physiology, biochemistry, neuroscience or related biomedical disciplines. If the graduation is longer than 3 years, candidates will be considered for an instructor position with a track to Assistant Professor.

Required Qualifications:

•A strong publication record from graduate and postdoctoral work is expected.

•A strong background in mouse genetics and physiological phenotyping mouse models related to development of diabetes, obesity and associated metabolic diseases.

•A previous experience in neuroscience, metabolism, in vivo rodent physiology, tissue dissection, primary (e.g., neurons, adipocytes and pancreatic islets) cell isolation and culture, PCR and immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, live-cell calcium imaging and ScRNA-Seq is desirable.

•Previous experience in manipulating (Chemogenetics) and monitoring (GCaMP) neuronal activity is preferred.

•Experience and/or interest big data analysis and scripting languages (R, Python) to analyze OMICS datasets and obtaining/analyzing datasets from NGS experiments (Sc-RNAseq, Chip-Seq, etc.) is desirable

•Be a team player and have fun in a young team with great team dynamics.

•Be creative and formulate key research questions, design and conduct experiments, organize and analyze data and write high-impact papers.

•Be willing to invest in and develop your writing and presentation skills, to flourish in the scientific community at large.

•Prepare research proposals, develop collaborative skills and be enthusiastic about discovery (which is what drives us).

•You may not fit all the above criteria and that is fine, but be highly motivated to develop these skill sets.

How to Apply:

Please email your CV with a list of publications, a cover letter or a research statement, and contact details of 2-3 references to Dr. Christoph Buettner cb1116@rutgers.edu and/or submit application via the Rutgers job portal.
