The National Food Institute (DTU Food) offers a position as post-doc in disease prevention and health promotion.

You will be part of the Research group for Risk Benefit at the Division of Diet, Disease Prevention & Toxicology. The research group is highly ambitious and world-leading within the research area.

The research focus of the group is on quantitative health assessment of food and diets, and its primary aims are to develop new and improved methods to perform risk-benefit assessments, to estimate burden of food associated diseases and to rank risks and benefits of food.

The research focus is also development of technological solutions for nutritional science to be used in observational and intervention studies.

One of the research projects within the group is the GrowBot Universe project. The objective of GrowBot Universe is to develop and test an innovative learning universe targeting pupils in primary school with the purpose of supporting teaching and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The focus will be on promoting healthy eating and food literacy.

You will be part of the GrowBot Universe project and work in the field of interventions, health promotion, and developing new teaching methods that combine technology and nutrition.

You will work in a dynamic group together with researchers with competencies within nutrition, toxicology, microbiology, epidemiology, and mathematical modelling.

The work will involve interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities and tasks You will work in a multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for and/or contribute to developing teaching materials and testing these in a real-life intervention study. The main tasks will be:

Develop teaching materials within the STEM area and conduct intervention studies among children.

Disseminate methods and results in the form of reports and scientific publications.

Together with the other researchers, in the group, take part in the planning of future research projects and writing of grant applications.

Participate in the teaching and advisory tasks of the group

Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

We expect that you have a solid background in life science. Required skills include:

Strong epidemiological and nutritional background

Experienced in conducting human intervention studies

Experienced in developing teaching materials for primary schools

Knowledge within Risk-Benefit assessments

Fluent in Danish and English, written as well as oral

Salary and terms of employment The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

Workplace and period of employment The workplace will be at the Life Science & Bioengineering building specifically designed to accommodate and facilitate our activities. The building is located at the DTU main campus in Kgs. Lyngby at the outskirt of Copenhagen.

The period of employment is 3 years.
