The Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO), Aarhus University, Denmark seeks to appoint a 18 months postdoc in analytical chemistry.

Starting Date and Period

The position is for 18 months and is available from 1st August 2020 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Job description

You are expected to contribute efforts at the interface of material science, cell biology and sensing. The project involves fabrication of sensor and their testing including data evaluation and preliminary statistical analysis.

Your profile

Applicants should hold a PhD in analytical chemistry with a strong focus on sensing, colloidal science and cell biology.

Expertise:

Extensive substantiated experience in analytical chemistry, sensing and colloidal science

Substantiated expertise in soft materials

Expertise in a large variety of characterization methods including, but not limited to spectrofluorimetery, DSC, ITC, light scattering, optical microscopy and microfluidics

Expertise to operate electron microscopes including cryo-EM is highly beneficial

Basic expertise in statistical analysis

Multiple peer-reviewed publications in the field

The successful applicant needs to be able to work as part of an research team containing academic and industrial partners

Basic expertise in teaching and undergraduate student supervision

Fluent written and oral communication in English is required

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range

Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
